At East Cowes Surgery, we are mindful of our impact on the environment, and are always keen to make improvements for our patients, our community, and the environment.

Inhalers are a key treatment for those with Asthma or COPD. Traditional inhalers use compressed gas to aid the delivery of the inhaled drug. These gases released can be 1300 – 3350 more potent than carbon dioxide. 70% of inhalers prescribed by the NHS contain these gases.

By making small changes to the inhalers we prescribe, we can reduce the impact we have on our environment. You may be asked during your respiratory review to trial a dry powder inhaler, which has a smaller environmental impact.

If you would like to volunteer to try a dry powder inhaler before your respiratory review, please contact the surgery on 01983 284333.
